Griffen Palmer ’17 wins songwriting competition on NBC’s ‘Songland’ Jun 24, 2020 9:23 AM Griffen Palmer, a 2017 BGSU alumnus, won NBC’s “Songland” competition in May and was chosen to write a song for the country duo Florida Georgia Line. He performed his song, “Second Guessing,” which was chosen and recorded by Florida Georgia Line and quickly reached No. 1 on iTunes.

Tenure, promotion granted by trustees Jun 17, 2020 3:57 PM BGSU celebrated the scholarly and creative achievements of 43 faculty members May 15 when the board of trustees awarded promotion and tenure. Nine faculty were promoted to full professor, 13 received tenure and were promoted to associate professor, and others were promoted to QRF teaching professor and QRF associate teaching professor.

Forever Freddie: Iconic mascot turns 70 Jun 17, 2020 2:32 PM The Freddie Falcon mascot got its start in 1950 when a few members of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity on campus decided BG needed a boost of school spirit. The role expanded and grew in popularity as Freddie became a fixture on campus. His sidekick Frieda joined the nest in 1980 and the pair have been spreading cheer and smiles at countless BGSU events ever since.

By using the algorithm, rather than collecting and manually analyzing data for each application, scientists can shorten their research time by weeks or even months. Her work is critically needed; she studies protein sequences and RNA research, potentially affecting research on cancer and the corona family of viruses – including COVID-19.

Statewide survey helps improve health care for Ohioans BGSU’s Kelly Balistreri, sociology, is active in collecting and analyzing Ohio health data to help state health agencies make informed decisions. As a member of the executive committee for the Ohio Medicaid Assessment Survey, she helps develop survey questions, plan the field work to ask the questions and analyze the collected data.
