  • Wolfe Center for the Arts comes to life through video projection Sep 21, 2012 8:00 AM Audiences usually come to Bowling Green State University’s new Wolfe Center for the Arts and its Fine Arts Center to see what’s inside, but this Sunday (Sept. 23), most of the action will be taking place on the exterior walls and surfaces of the two buildings. Students and faculty will be creating collaborative video projections this weekend that will be exhibited to the public from 8-9:30 p.m. Sunday. The two buildings will be “activated” inside and out using 3-D projection mapping, a popular new strategy for transforming architectural spaces with moving imagery customized to the space.

  • BGSU fosters ‘culture of care’ for suicide prevention Sep 12, 2012 3:07 PM It’s a familiar scenario: a faculty member notices that a previously engaged student is missing class and now looks unkempt. Concerned, the faculty member would like to approach the student but doesn’t know where to begin. Or students become alarmed when a friend begins drinking more than usual and seems pessimistic and negative. Not wanting to insult the friend, or afraid of making things worse, they say nothing. Or perhaps it’s the first-year student who just seems lost and without a group with whom to bond. These can all be indications of someone who is having difficulty adjusting to life on campus, who is struggling with a mental health concern or who has experienced a traumatic life event. Some of these individuals may also be having thoughts of suicide.

An expert in biochemical nanoscience, he narrows his focus down to the motions and properties of single molecules of proteins and enzymes as they perform their biological functions. The new knowledge he and his team are generating is gaining international notice.

  • BGSU Festival Series features Roman carnival spectacular Jan 5, 2012 4:24 PM The Bowling Green State University Festival Series begins the new year with a “Roman Carnival Spectacular” featuring the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and BGSU’s Wind Symphony.   • Graduating senior to ride away to national horsemanship meet Apr 30, 2011 3:37 PM Graduation weekend will find Bowling Green State University senior Tiffani Bennethum doing a quick change from her cap and gown into cowboy hat and boots. Thanks to her recent fourth-place finish in the semifinals of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition, she must leave Bowling Green immediately after commencement and head to Raleigh, N.C., for the national competition.
