ArtsX: Winter showcase of the arts comes to audiences virtually

Bowling Green State University students, faculty and staff continue to create, perform, and tell stories through ArtsX, the annual winter showcase of the arts. This year's event will be held virtually and opens Tuesday, Dec. 1, with a culmination of premier events on Dec. 5.

Exploring the theme of “Dreams and Stories,” the 16th annual event will be a virtual showcase and celebration of stories told through music, visual arts, writing and performance with online galleries, activities and videos.

Featured performers on Dec. 5 will include Ohio Playback Theatre and The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers.

The Northeast Chapter of Ohio Playback Theatre presents a non-scripted art form, with artistic, on-the-spot enactments honoring the true stories told by audience members. Stories can be serious or silly, simple or complicated, and from the past, present or future. Audience members are invited to join with their cameras on to participate in this interactive event from 5-6:30 p.m.

The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers is an award-winning, live-curated storytelling event. An exciting and diverse lineup of storytellers will take the virtual stage from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to tell their true and personal stories to an engaged audience. The stories are moving, raw and revealing, hilarious, human and healing.

ArtsX will conclude with the presentation of the musical “The Theory of Relativity” by the BGSU Department of Theatre and Film. Through a seemingly unrelated collection of songs, scenes and monologues, this new musical introduces a compelling array of characters experiencing the joys and heartbreaks, the liaisons and losses, the inevitability and the wonder of human connection. The video is available on demand beginning at 8 p.m. on Dec. 5.
