Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

Did you know in Wood County nearly 15% of people are facing food insecurity? Did you also know that in Wood County nearly 28% of households are living below the poverty line? To bring awareness to this the Office of the Dean of Students wants to educate the BGSU community about issues, needs, and experiences impacting people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. During the week of November 14-18th there will be multiple events going on around campus that you will be able to attend and engage with to learn more about these issues and resources to support folks impacted by housing and food insecurity.

November 14, 2022

Walk through the University lawn and view a few statistics for Wood County when it comes to food insecurity. There will be also QR codes that you can scan to get more information on how you can help those who are facing food insecurity.

We will be hosting a service event where we will be turning t-shirts into tote bags that will be donated to local organizations that support our unhoused neighbors. This event will take place in Olscamp room 113 from 3-5pm.

We will be having a gallery exhibition to depict some of the realities that people who experience hunger and homelessness may face. Feel free to come through from 2-4pm to the Bowen Thompson Student union in room 201.
