BGSU to offer film screenings as part of Film Series, International Film Festival

University will screen more than a dozen films in the coming months

Bowling Green State University will screen more than a dozen films in the coming months as part of the Spring 2020 Film Series and International Film Festival 2020.

Screenings in the Spring 2020 Film Series will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the BGSU Film Theater, 206 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Screenings are free and open to the public.

  • Feb. 18 – “Us”
  • Feb. 25 – “Sorry to Bother You”
  • March 3 – “If Beale Street Could Talk”
  • March 10 – “Gas Food Lodging”
  • March 24 – “Girlfight”
  • March 31 – Faculty Cineposium, BGSU Faculty and Studio Experience
  • April 7 – Screen-Play, BGSU Student Screenplays

The International Film Festival 2020 will explore the way in which different cultures imagine the link between insiders and outsiders, and how different film makers represent the interdependence of these apparent opposites. Screenings will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the BGSU Film Theater, 206 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Screenings are free and open to the public.

  • April 2 – “The Time that Remains”
  • April 9 – “Snowpiercer”
  • April 16 – “In the Fade”
  • April 23 – “The Fruit Machine”
  • April 30 – “Une colonie” (“A Colony”)

Dr. Beatrice Guenther, international studies, world languages and cultures, will introduce “Une colonie” as part of the Pallister French-Canadian Lecture Series. Distinguished Pallister speaker and Film Director Genevieve Dulade-De Celles will present her film and participate in a Q&A with campus and community members; a reception will follow the event.

“Une colonie” follows a timid 12-year-old girl who is about to leave her native countryside to begin high school. She becomes lost in the hostile environment, but along the way, she encounters a young, indigenous outsider who helps her embrace herself.
