BGSU’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) recently launched two mobile apps for iOS and Android smartphones. Bowling Green State University will celebrate the Ohanami, or Cherry Blossom Festival, again this year, from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday (April 21) in 101 Olscamp Hall. Guests can try Japanese calligraphy, origami and traditional games, and enjoy performances of taiko drums, koto music and martial arts, along with Japanese refreshments. Alumnus Chris Hawley has joined a select group of journalists that can call themselves Pulitzer Prize-winners. Hawley, who graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1995 with a journalism degree, along with three other reporters at The Associated Press, was awarded the prize for investigative reporting on April 16. The group worked on a months-long series outlining the New York Police Department’s surveillance of minority and Muslim neighborhoods since the 9/11 terror attacks.

Graduation weekend will find Bowling Green State University senior Tiffani Bennethum doing a quick change from her cap and gown into cowboy hat and boots. Thanks to her recent fourth-place finish in the semifinals of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition, she must leave Bowling Green immediately after commencement and head to Raleigh, N.C., for the national competition.
