Gold medalist Dave Wottle to speak at BGSU
BOWLING GREEN, O. – Olympic gold medalist Dave Wottle, a 1973 graduate of Bowling Green State University, returns to his alma mater this week to participate in Homecoming festivities.
Wottle will speak at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in the Stroh Center for the College of Education and Human Development’s “Setting the Pace” lecture series. His presentation, “A Winning Attitude,” is free and open to the public. It will be held on the second-floor mezzanine area of the Stroh Center.
During his collegiate career at BGSU, Wottle earned five NCAA titles in track and the 800-meter crown in the 1972 AAU Championships. His gold medal-winning performance in the 800-meter race in the 1972 Munich Olympics made him an American sports icon.
Following his presentation, he will serve as the parade marshal for the Homecoming Parade, which starts at Mercer Road and Wooster Street at 5 p.m.
The BGSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the School of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies are additional sponsors of the lecture.
