What're Your Objects? - 2022 - Lenticular - Not For Sale

Artist's Statement

We, as humans, form connections to objects based on the way our brain processes the interaction. We subconsciously take into consideration how the object feels, what it does, how it makes us feel, and how it ended up in our hands. Objects tell a story and reflect who we are. By creating daily observational drawings, I explore and decipher what objects mean the most to me. Drawing these objects memorializes them. The act of drawing these objects emphasizes their value and the presence of everyday life. Accessing one’s own collection of objects helps reaffirm one’s self-identity. The objects we surround ourselves with everyday help shape our self-identity. As a graphic designer, this pushes me to improvise and go outside my comfort zone, as I reflect on what I chose to represent me. I utilize this practice to create something every single day. The creation of this work captures the objects that mean the most to me and embrace how they became a part of my life at this point in time.
