Galleries
The Fine Arts Center Galleries offer a wide range of free exhibitions and events to all area community members in support of the BGSU vision: As a public university, BGSU focuses on contributing to the public good and embraces its role as a national model in addressing the educational, economic, and social vitality of our region, the state of Ohio, the nation, and the world.
Our exhibitions include challenging and engaging contemporary work by nationally recognized artists as well as faculty and student shows that highlight some of the most talented and successful artists of this region. Visitors are invited to explore collaborative and inclusive events and presentations that foreground political, social and cultural themes through dialogue, creative ideas and new knowledge.

DESTROY THE GAP is an exhibition of 24 contemporary designers and artists engaging in disability discourse through aesthetics. This exhibition reveals the gaping abyss between the lived experience of disabled people and the lagging expectations of the not-yet-disabled. Coinciding with the UCDA Design Education Summit: SAME/DIFFERENCE, DESTROY THE GAP continues the mission of exploring accessibility, disability justice, belonging, and inclusivity.
All exhibitors identify as disabled, care workers, or allies, who will showcase artworks displaying disability justice, lived experiences, radical futures, and beloved community. Creators like Jen White Johnson, Chanika Svetvilas, and Rebirth Garments will exhibit a multitude of mediums from video to fashion to fiber.
Opening Friday, May 12th from 5-7 pm in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery, this free-
to-the-public event will be available to experience until June 4, 2023.

DESTROY THE GAP is wheelchair/mobility-aid accessible. Artist statements and artwork information will be available in large-print and braille variations at the exhibit. All galleries are wheelchair accessible with the exception of the upper level of the Wankelman Gallery

GD Thesis project on the Front Page of Cherokee Newspaper
Graphic Design Senior Jesse Walton, a CURS grant recipient, is currently featured on the front page of the Cherokee Phoenix Newspaper in Tahlequah, Oklahoma for the senior thesis project. Jesse’s work, "The Revelation Booth serves as an epitome to bring an understanding to the viewers outside of the Indigenous Community to understand their privilege, to see the hardships, confusion and solemness through the installation and create this self-aware feeling, to call to change the viewer’s perspectives, to be motivated to change their own thinking.”
