Student Support Services

What is TRIO Student Support Services?

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is part of the TRIO programs created to promote educational access for those who have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education nationally.  SSS programs provide advising, tutoring, career exploration field trips, cultural opportunities, and academic support.  TRIO SSS students also register for classes earlier than their peers via priority registration.

If you meet at least one of the following criteria, we invite you to apply to join BGSU's SSS program:

  • You are a first-generation college student (custodial parents did not complete a bachelor’s degree)
  • Your family income fits the requirements determined by the Federal Income Guidelines
  • You have a documented disability and have registered with the BGSU Accessibility Services office.

If you are interested in participating in the program and meet the eligibility requirements, please complete the TRIO SSS application. For more information regarding TRIO SSS, please visit us at 292 Hayes Hall or call 419-372-2677.

It may be helpful to use the free Adobe Reader program to fill out PDF forms and make sure the TRIO SSS application opens in Adobe Reader rather than in a browser window.  If you encounter any technical difficulties with completing or sending the TRIO SSS application, please contact Ian Lee at or 419-372-8812.

TRIO Student Support Services is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.  As a result, services provided by TRIO SSS do not incur additional fees.
