Supplemental Instruction

Boost your grades, build confidence and review class material.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a free, peer-led academic support program available for select courses at BGSU. Whether you're looking to understand tough concepts, prepare for an exam or study smarter, SI is for you.

It’s never too early, or too late, to attend an SI session!

SI Session Schedule

Research shows that students who regularly attend SI sessions:

  • Earn higher grades
  • Withdraw less often
  • Feel more confident in their coursework

SI is not tutoring. It's a chance to study collaboratively with classmates, led by someone who’s been in your shoes.

Each session includes:

  • Review of course concepts and lecture notes
  • Discussion of readings and assignments
  • Practice with test-taking strategies
  • Sample quizzes, study activities, and more
  • Peer-led: SI Leaders have successfully completed the course and are trained to help guide study sessions
  • Regular sessions: Offered three times per week for each supported course
  • Flexible and inclusive: Open to all students in the class. No appointments or sign-up needed
  • Completely free.
