Graduate Student Senate

Letter from the BGSU Graduate Student Senate’s Leadership

Hello BGSU graduate students,

The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) welcomes you to BGSU for the 2025-2026 academic year. We believe that the graduate student body of BGSU is integral to the university, and every individual plays an important role—the GSS endeavors to connect graduate students to the university and represent their interests within it.

With over 2,700 graduate students across campus, we engage with individuals from diverse disciplines, fields, and professions. To do so, the GSS is comprised of the General Assembly (GA) and the Senate Executive Council (SEC). The needs and goals of graduate students are communicated through senators from various programs in the GA and implemented and acted on by the SEC.

We strive to create a community where every student feels a sense of belonging, regardless of who they are or where they come from.

We take our role as stewards seriously. We have been entrusted with this organization to support graduate students, and we aim to utilize that trust to enhance the lives and experiences of graduate students.

Our goal is to amplify and develop the voices of the graduate student body, as our voices are critical and deserve to be heard. We are here to ensure that you are heard and provide graduate students with the space to speak for themselves and others.

We seek to transform graduate education at BGSU by enhancing a sense of belonging, improving the support graduate students receive, and amplifying their voices.

We exist to serve the graduate student population. Join the Graduate Student Senate team today and become part of the GSS legacy. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact us at gss@bgsu.edu
