Graduate Student Senate

Letter from the BGSU Graduate Student Senate President and Vice President

Dear BGSU Graduate Students,

On behalf of the Graduate Student Senate (GSS), we would like to congratulate you on pursuing your graduate level education at Bowling Green State University (BGSU)! As a graduate student at BGSU, you are joining a unique community of engaged, welcoming, and inclusive students. We hope that your experience at BGSU is meaningful and that you feel valued as a member of our legacy.

GSS is the leading student organization at BGSU representing the needs, interests, and opinions of the approximately 3,200  graduate students. We strive to ensure just representation and treatment of all graduate students and to enhance your academic and social experiences at BGSU. We want you to feel seen and heard within GSS.

Each academic department/program, as recognized by the Graduate College, is eligible for representation in GSS. You and/or your constituents are encouraged to represent your department or organization as graduate student senators. As a senator, you:

  • Learn the latest issues affecting the graduate population.

  • Bring individual graduate students and departmental needs to the general assembly.

  • Vote on issues and concerns impacting graduate student life.

  • Represent graduate students on university committees.

If you are interested in GSS, but want more information, please feel free to come to our monthly General Assembly meetings, either in-person or via Zoom. This year, we are introducing hybrid meetings, allowing you to join from where you are most comfortable. You can talk to your programs elected senator or reach out the elected and appointed chairs for ways to get involved with GSS. We want you to get involved and make your voice heard.

We always appreciate open communication as we serve the graduate student population. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact us at We are looking forward to working with you this year!

Warm Regards,

Amanda Grace Taylor, GSS President
