Selective Service Compliance
All male students who are Ohio residents between the ages of 18 and 26 must register with the Selective Service. As a result of this requirement, all male students not in compliance with this law will be assessed an additional charge equivalent to out-of-state tuition for every term of enrollment until the student provides the appropriate documentation per Section 3345.32 of the Ohio Revised Code.
There are also implications to your tuition rate if you do not submit your Selective Service Number. Below is a list of some grants and scholarships that are impacted by not having Selective Service Number on file:
- Ohio College Opportunity Grant
- Ohio Choose Ohio First Scholarship
- Ohio War Orphans Scholarship
- Waiving instruction and general fee charges for male students eligible for police and firefighter tuition benefits
To complete the Selective Service registration you will need your Social Security number, address and date of birth.
To be approved for an exemption, submit a copy of the BGSU Selective Service Compliance Form. Email completed forms to registrar@bgsu.edu.
