Community Description:
This learning community is designed to support the development of classroom practices that help students promote critical thinking skills by fostering AI literacy. Each week, we will explore one of five dimensions to AI literacy: 1) human-first thinking, 2) how generative AI works, 3) prompt generation, 4) ethical use, including issues of bias and inclusion, and 5) assessing output use. Intended for full-time BGSU faculty, this community meets virtually every two weeks to facilitate group discussions of readings and peer reviews of classroom materials, with the goal of creating a classroom assessment, revising an existing course, or outlining a new course to foster AI literacy. Our experience together will provide opportunities to network with colleagues and provide peer feedback on classroom materials while creating a group of alumni who can share best practices for fostering AI literacy to members of their departments and the larger BGSU community.
Community Learning Outcomes:
By participating in this community, you will be able to:
- Describe the dimensions of AI literacy.
- Explain how generative AI can support the critical thinking of students.
- Apply dimensions of AI literacy to classroom practice.
- Design classroom assessments that foster AI literacy.
