Green Event Guide

Planning a Green Event

Are you involved in planning an upcoming event at BGSU? Want to make it as environmentally-friendly as possible and minimize or even eliminate your waste? We can help! The BGSU Office of Sustainability developed a quick guide to help plan events of any size to be low/zero waste. Two students at a Homecoming Picnic Zero Waste station."Green Events" are in alignment with our Climate Action Plan and not only benefit those that attend, but also the planet. Using this guide, events will produce less waste, increase sustainability knowledge, and lower the event’s overall environmental impact. The Green Event Guide contains sustainability actions suitable for large or small events varying from waste management to selecting prizes

The Green Event Guide is linked below as a resource for you. If your event is on campus and going to serve food, please email the Office of Campus Sustainability at greenbg@bgsu.edu to arrange for composting containers, signage, and post-event pickup. You could alternatively reach us by submitting a work order ahead of your event to let us know if you'll need food waste removal or supplies such as clear streams for recyclables. We ask that all groups or individuals that want to host a Green Event contact our office prior to placing a food order with BGSU Dining Services. Even if you contact us after placing a catering order, please don't hesitate to notify us of your intention to host a green event. Give us at least two weeks notice, if possible.

Let’s get started!
