Women in STEM Keynote Speakers

Jessica Taylor is a Physical Scientist at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. She leads the Science Directorate’s Science Activation team. This team engages teachers, students, and the public in authentic NASA science experiences. Jessica serves as the Principal Investigator for GLOBE Clouds and My NASA Data programs. Jessica loves her work because she helps make Earth science exciting and meaningful to everyone. She even wrote a children’s book, “How do Satellites Stay in Space.” Jessica is a passionate advocate for encouraging youth in STEM. She serves on NASA’s Women & Girls and STEM Working Group and is a member of NASA Langley’s Allies & Advocates for Women (A2W) and the Hispanic Employee Advisory Committee (HEAC).

Jessica received degrees in Meteorology, Finance, and Science Education for Florida State University. Prior to joining NASA, Jessica worked at the College of William and Mary’s STEM Education Alliance and served as Director for School Improvement at the Florida Department of Education.

Jodi Haney is the owner and operator of Xcite Learning. She also is a Professor Emeritus (retired ... but active) at Bowling Green State University and continues to hold a joint appointment in the departments of Teaching and Learning and Environmental Sustainability. Jodi's journey in education began as a middle and high school science teacher and coach in the public schools where she served for nearly a decade. She spent the next 22 years on faculty at BGSU. Dr. Haney's research and professional work focus on motivation and engagement for deep and long-lasting learning, resulting in 40+ publications and 90+ presentations. Jodi has taught numerous science education, curriculum, technology, and environmental studies/sustainability courses at BGSU. She has worked with well over 100 schools across Ohio and the nation as an educational consultant. Jodi believes that teaching is the essence of her identity and she is passionate about her role to inspire the love of learning through active, engaged, and authentic experiences both within the classroom and the local community.
