All commencement ceremonies will be held, rain or shine, outdoors at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. There will be multiple ceremonies occurring Friday, April 30, through Sunday, May 2. Visit our Ceremony Information webpage for more details.

All in-person ceremonies will include the class of 2020, as well as our spring 2021 graduates. Please continue to check your BGSU email and the commencement website for future updates.

A Commencement Ceremony RSVP form was sent to each graduate’s BGSU email on March 25 and will close on April 15. The RSVP form includes the graduate's name, BGSU ID, email, ceremony selection and accessibility needs. Once the form is submitted, the graduate will receive a confirmation to their BGSU email. All graduates who wish to attend an in-person ceremony are required to complete an RSVP form. 

Implementing an RSVP process for all commencement ceremonies allows BGSU to set capacity limitations, while at the same time allowing graduates the flexibility to choose their ceremony.

Children age 2 and under do not require a ticket if seated on a guest's lap. Children age 3 and older will require a guest ticket.

Caps, gowns and other graduation items are available for purchase online from Falcon Outfitters and in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Items can also be purchased online from Jostens, the exclusive supplier of graduation products for BGSU. Falcon Outfitters also carries graduation merchandise such as personalized announcements, diploma frames and class rings. Upon verification of completion of degree requirements, a notification to claim a digital version of the diploma will be sent to the graduate’s BGSU email within 1-3 weeks after commencement.  Printed diplomas will be sent to each graduate approximately 3-6 weeks following commencement. Transcripts will not be available until 3 weeks after commencement, provided you have completed all degree requirements.

Each degree candidate is confirmed by the candidate’s academic college. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure all degree requirements are fulfilled via their MyBGSU degree audit. Colleges may communicate via BGSU email regarding outstanding requirements that would delay the confirmation of a degree.

Based on undergraduate coursework, students earning a Latin honors gold cord will be notified via their BGSU email. 

Main campus undergraduates have two options to obtain their cords. Graduates can pick up their cord at Falcon Outfitters inside the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Graduates may also fill out the Latin Cord Mail Request form sent to their BGSU email. Firelands undergraduates will have their cord mailed to them by early April.

If you have questions about your specific honor, please refer to BGSU’s Academic Honors, or email the Office of Registration and Records at and include your BGSU ID.

Doctoral candidates are invited specifically to the 7 p.m. ceremony on Friday, April 30. Candidates will have the opportunity to be hooded on stage at the Friday ceremony only. A separate RSVP form will be emailed to doctoral candidates. The Friday ceremony will have a smaller capacity to accommodate for the timing of doctoral hoodings.
