CWGE offers a variety of awards. Grants, and scholarships. We encourage you to apply and to nominate others to be recognized.
Women of Distinction
Hosted by the Center for Women and Gender Equity and the Center for Leadership the Women of Distinction awards an undergraduate student, graduate student, staff member, faculty member, and alum or community member who with excellence, ingenuity and ability have overcome barriers that still exist for women. At the ceremony, a panel discussion will be held, allowing the five winners to share their advice, inspiration, and experience as leaders. Nominate a student, graduate student, staff member, faculty member, and alum or community member by November 1st to be considered for a Women of Distinction Award. The award ceremony and reception takes place during Women’s History Month on Thursday, March 7th from 4-6pm in the Multipurpose Room of the Bowen Thompson Student Union. The Elizabeth “Betty” Boyer Award for Student Mothers
Elizabeth “Betty” Boyer (1913- 2002), a 1937 graduate of Bowling Green State University, was a champion for gender equality in education and advocate in the passage of Title IX legislation. In honor of Betty’s continued efforts to promote gender equity in education, The Elizabeth M. Boyer Award for Student Mothers was established to support the academic achievement of student mothers at Bowling Green State University. The Boyer Award aims to assist in meeting some of the financial demands of being a parenting student.
The Elizabeth M. Boyer Award for Student Mothers is available to full-time undergraduate females maintaining a 2.5 GPA whom hold primary custodial responsibility for a minor child and/or an adult child with special needs. Student mothers who meet the above-mentioned application criteria are encouraged to apply for the Elizabeth M. Boyer Award for Student Mothers. Application materials are available within the Center for Women and Gender Equity at Bowling Green State University and comprise of an application and a narrative essay. An initial award of $1,000 will be granted based on a combination of need and application strength.
Applications are resealed in August and due by September 1st each year.
Research and Professional Development Grants
In the spring of each year the Center for Women and Gender Equity provides small research and professional development grants to students, staff, and faculty to be used in the following academic year. Check back for applications in spring 2020.
Community Building Grants
