CWGE offers a variety of awards, grants, and scholarships. We encourage you to apply and to nominate others to be recognized.

Celebrating Mentors

Every spring, the CWGE recognizes exceptional mentors at BGSU through student nominations. Nominated mentors are publicly recognized and receive framed certificates for display.

Women of Distinction

The Women of Distinction award honors outstanding leaders in the BGSU community who serve as a role models and/or mentors to individuals who have faced discrimination based on sex and/or gender and exhibit dedication to empowering individuals who have faced discrimination based on sex and/or gender to achieve their goals. The annual Women of Distinction awards program is an exciting continuation of the tradition to honor, celebrate, nd connect leaders who advocate for gender equity support and women on campus.

The Elizabeth “Betty” Boyer Award for Student Parents

Elizabeth “Betty” Boyer (1913- 2002), a 1937 graduate of Bowling Green State University, was a champion for gender equality in education and advocate in the passage of Title IX legislation. In honor of Betty’s continued efforts to promote gender equity in education, The Elizabeth M. Boyer Award for Student Parents was established to support the academic achievement of student mothers at Bowling Green State University, and has since been expanded to provide support and honor the work of any full- or part-time student parent, regardless of sex or gender identity. The Boyer Award aims to assist in meeting some of the financial demands of being a parenting student.

The Elizabeth M. Boyer Award for Student Parents is available to full- and part-time undergraduate students maintaining a 2.5 GPA who hold primary custodial responsibility for a minor child and/or an adult child with special needs. Parenting students who meet the above-mentioned application criteria are encouraged to apply for the Elizabeth M. Boyer Award for Student Parents. Application materials are available within the Center for Women and Gender Equity at Bowling Green State University and comprise of an application and a narrative essay. An initial award of $1,000 will be granted based on a combination of need and application strength. Application deadline is rolling and is available here.
