Scholarship Opportunities

Alma J. Payne Nontraditional Student Scholarship | $1,000

Nontraditional female student 25 years of age or older who is either part-time or full-time junior or senior undergraduate student; or, part-time or full-time graduate student, who demonstrates exceptional talent or professional promise in her particular field based on GPA and recommendations by faculty in each department. Preference will be given to a student studying English at BGSU.

Bloomer Scholarship | $1,000

For a student who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree and returning to school after a leave of absence for at least one (1) year. Student must have completed at least one (I) full semester as a traditional student, but did not completed their degree. Student needs to be registered for at least nine (9) credit hours.

Edith Reed Pallister Memorial Scholarship | $1,000

Full- or part-time nontraditional students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Must demonstrate financial need.

Marlene A. Dietrich Purdy Scholarship | $2,000

Female undergraduate student who has had an interruption in her education after graduating from high school. The student must be from Mercer, Wood, or Sandusky County and has been out of high school for at least five years. The student must have not previously attended a college or university. Must maintain minimum 2.5 GPA. Priority given to student demonstrating financial need.

Mary Alice (Taylor) and Claude Oscar Rice Jr. Transfer Student Scholarship | $1,000

An annual award for an admitted as an undergraduate transfer and nontraditional student attending the main campus or eCampus at BGSU. The student must demonstrate financial need as verified by the Office of Financial Aid and be pursuing a bachelor’s degree full time.

Mazie Nontraditional Student Scholarship | $2,000

Nontraditional student, i.e.: parents, displaced workers, students entering/returning to college after a break, 23 years of age or older. Preference will be given to female students who are parents. The student must demonstrate financial need as verified by the Office of Financial Aid. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Private Industry Collaborative Award | $1,000

Adult learners residing in Lucas or Wood counties. This scholarship also applies to current or future dislocated workers in Lucas or Wood counties, disadvantaged students (income below poverty level), and students who face economic barriers to educational opportunities (i.e. single parents).

Ramona Cormier Nontraditional Scholarship | $2,000

Full- or part-time nontraditional students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree. The student must also demonstrate financial need as verified by the Office of Financial Aid. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Must include an essay explaining the student’s interest in pursuing a first bachelor’s degree.

Robert and Ellen Thompson Military Scholarship Program | $2,000

Be an honorably discharged veteran or drilling reservist of the U.S. Military or a member of the National Guard. Minimum 2.5
cumulative GPA. Must demonstrate financial need. Be enrolled at least part-time and have achieved a minimum of junior standing. Student cannot be a recipient of any other Thompson Foundation or Robert and Ellen Thompson Scholarship. Student must be willing to complete 10 hours of community service per semester. Student cannot be receiving a dependent fee/tuition waiver from the University. This scholarship is renewable for up to four semesters if student maintains eligibility requirements.

William and Joan Downing Endowed Support Fund | Scholarship amount is variable and is dependent on financial need.

Must be active military or veteran student enrolled at BGSU who is currently utilizing or exhausted their educational benefits.
Student must be in good academic standing and making progress towards degree completion.
