Why spend a summer in Salzburg?

The best way to learn a foreign language is to live within its culture and use it every day. In addition to being the most efficient way to learn a language, living abroad can introduce you to new places, experiences, perspectives and ideas. Through study abroad, you will develop important intercultural competencies that will you throughout your lives.

Bowling Green State University’s Summer Salzburg Program, offered at the Universität Salzburg, provides the opportunity to take advantage of top-quality German language instruction in a beautiful, historically rich setting.

Program in a nutshell

The program, established in 1970, the program consists of core language courses supplemented with additional instruction in the areas of language and culture pedagogy. You may choose to participate in the first, second or both sessions consisting of an intensive German course for four credits each session and an intensive cultural immersion in the afternoons and weekends. Different levels of German instruction are available. For each three-week course completed, you will receive four BGSU credits. These credits are also transferable to other colleges and universities. A valuable experience in its own right, the summer program is also an excellent preparation for the BGSU academic year abroad in Salzburg.
