Emily Urbanczyk
Emily (she/her) is a second-year clinical psychology graduate student in Dr. Braden’s lab. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago in May 2022.
Emily’s research broadly focuses on eating disorders and the multidimensional nature of recovery. She is particularly interested in how individuals with lived experience conceptualize recovery across physical, behavioral, psychological, and personal domains. Her previous work includes an independent research project examining cognitive, behavioral, and emotional outcomes among individuals who have recovered from anorexia. Emily’s current work aims to better understand discrepancies between clinical definitions of recovery and the perspectives of those with lived experience, with the goal of informing more nuanced, person-centered approaches to the conceptualization and treatment of eating disorders.
In her free time, she enjoys weightlifting, baking, cooking, and singing.
