Harold Tinnappel (1918 - 1968)

Dr. Harold Tinnappel image Dr. Harold Tinnappel , 49, professor of mathematics at Bowling Green State University was found dead Tuesday in his home on Route 1, Pemberville, by a neighbor who investigated after Dr. Tinnappel had not met his classes.

He was born to Mr. and Mrs Albert Tinnappel in Columbus. He had been a member of the BGSU faculty since 1949. He was a graduate of Ohio State University with B.A., M.A. and Ph. D degrees. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. Sigma Xi, American Mathematical Society, American Association of Mathematics [sic], Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Greater Toledo council of Teachers.

He was editor of the book review section of the Mathematics Teacher magazine and was, a past national officer of Kappa is Mu Epsilon, mathematics society

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Don (Joan) Dodson and Mrs. Donald L. (Mary) Fisher, both of Columbus, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call it the Deck Funeral Home this evening from. 7 to 9. The body will be moved Thursday to Prout Chapel on the campus to lie in state from 10 a.m. to I p.m. A brief memorial service will be held at 12 noon by Rev. Paul Tuchardt, Lutheran Student Center pastor.

The body will be taken to the Schoedinger Funeral Home, Columbus, where it will be placed in the Hilltop Chapel. Calling hours there will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in St. James Lutheran Church, Columbus. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Any tributes may be in the form of contributions to the Dr. Harold Tinnappel Scholarship Fund in care of Bowling Green State University.
