Verner P. Bingman, Ph.D., Department of Psychology

Students participating in this program will play active roles in current projects ongoing in my laboratory that aim to understand how the brain controls the navigational and spatial memory behavior of birds. Students work side-by-side both with me and with the current graduate students in the lab, affording an opportunity for my Ph.D. students to gain experience as mentors. All students in my lab are encouraged to present their work at conferences prior to publication in the peer-reviewed literature. Thus, students gain exposure to all stages of scientific inquiry, from hypothesis to publication. Such experience is essential for the development of young investigators.
