Mikhail Zamkov Ph.D., Physics & Astronomy

Our research focuses on the electronic, chemical and optical properties of semiconductor nanostructures (quantum dots) and self-assembled nanoscale materials prepared by means of chemical syntheses. These nanoparticles exhibit remarkable properties, including bright fluorescence, photostability, and photovoltaic effect, which makes them appealing candidates for use in solar cells, bio-labels, hybrid light-emitting-diodes and lasers. Students participating in my group will take part both in preparation of these nanostructures, and their characterization by means of laser scanning microscopy techniques.
