Commencement celebration rescheduled, degrees still awarded in May

March 20, 2020

Dear Students,

We know this is a challenging time, and above all else, we hope you and your family are safe and healthy. The past few weeks have been unprecedented, and I want to acknowledge the shift to online courses is not what any of us were expecting when the semester began. Please know we will continue to support you regardless of where you are taking courses.

Your faculty have been working diligently to transition courses online, provide answers to your questions and ensure that you still have the high-quality experience for which Bowling Green State University is recognized. We appreciate your patience as we work together to address the challenges that our campus community, and the broader community, are facing. We may run into a few bumps throughout the next few weeks and ask you to stay connected and let us know how we can support you.

INTERNSHIPS, CO-OPS, CLINICALS AND PRACTICUMS

Many of you have asked questions about internships, co-ops, clinicals and practicums, which include student teaching. If you are healthy, you should maintain attendance as long as the placement site is open. If a placement site closes and/or you are unable to meet the number of days required for licensure, accreditation or course credit, BGSU will continue working with appropriate agencies to help you stay on track for graduation. Contact your instructors or college office with questions.

LAB, STUDIO AND MUSIC COURSES

If you are currently enrolled in lab, studio or music courses, please know that we are working on a plan that will allow you to complete them remotely. The details are being finalized and will be communicated by your instructors soon. Feel free to reach out to them directly if you have questions.

RESOURCES

Many questions were submitted via our online form, and we've put together resources that answer your questions and provide support during the online learning period. Please take a moment to review the following information.

We are working diligently to provide answers to your most Frequently Asked Questions. We continue to update this page as decisions are made.

The Counseling Center has staff available and will offer remote counseling to support students during this difficult time. Contact the office at 419-372-2081 for assistance.

A BGSU staff member will be in touch with each of you to ensure you have another point of contact during the remainder of the semester.

The Career Center staff will be reaching out to each graduating student to discuss post graduation plans.

Our COVID-19 Resources and Support page provides links to on-campus and off-campus resources.

An Online Learning Resources and Tips page has been created to help you transition to online learning. We have compiled valuable tools and tips to help you through the rest of the semester.

If you do not have access to a personal computer, please complete our Computer Access Form and ITS will reach out and assist you.

If you still have questions about moving out of your residence hall, you can find information on the Move Out page or contact Residence Life.

Your health and safety are the University's top priority. I understand many of you are disappointed to be finishing the semester remotely, but I am proud of how resilient you are. We will get through this together, and I will keep you informed as we make decisions in response to the COVID-19 situation.
