Returning student Housing Application opens at 9 a.m. EST for students with a Guaranteed Housing Status.

March 11

Last day to create a Selection Time Pair to recieve the same room selection time with one other student. 

March 12

Room selection times are emailed to your BGSU email after 3 p.m. Selection times are 100% RANDOMIZED.

March 16-19

Returning students who have completed their Housing Application and made their $200 payment by March 11 will select their room.

Finding A Roommate

At BGSU, we cannot guarentee you will live with a specific person, but we try to increase your chances by allowing you to form a Selection Time Pair.

Selection Time Pairs are an optional step in the housing application process and can be formed by two students and when formed both you and your friend will receive the same random selection time, making it easier to find a room together, or near each other.

Form your STP | Dec. 1-March 11 

Simply talking to someone and verbally telling each other you want to select a room together, does not mean you will be roommates. There is no way our Housing team can know you want to try and room with somene unless you tell us.

Important reminder

You must make it official! If you do not form a Selection Time Pair before March 11 it is very likely that you and your friend will not have the same selection time, and you will likely have to select a room apart from each other and possibly in different residence halls.

Step 1 | Complete your Housing & Meal Plan Application

In order for you to create a Selection Time Pair you will need to log in to tyour BGSU Housing Portal and complete the following:

  1. Accept the terms of the on-campus housing and dining agreement.
  2. Make the $200 initial housing payment.*
  3. Submit health and emergency contact information.
  4. Complete the lifestyle questionnaire.
  5. Select a meal plan. Returning students must select a custom meal plan option.
  6. Optional step: Students can then form a Selection Time Pair. 

* The $200 initial housing payment is completely refundable until May 1, 2027, if you decide you no longer want to attend BGSU.

Important reminder

The day you make your housing payment does NOT determine your room selection time. Room selection times are 100% randomized EVEN if you form a Selection Time Pair. 

Step 2 | Find someone to form an Selection Time Pair with

As a returning student, finding someone you want to be in an Selection Time Pair with is easier because you have been attending classes, living on campus and involved with organizations. We encourage you to talk to your friends to find out who will be living on campus next year.  

Step 3 | Form your group so it's official

After you have identified someone, you will need to make it official by forming your Selection Time Pair. First, you need to identify who will be forming the group, once that person is decided they will follow these steps.

  1. You will log in to your BGSU Housing Portal and navigate to the Selection Time Pair section
  2. You will be able to search for your friend using their BGSU ID #.* 
  3. After you have located your friend, you will need to follow the prompts to send them a request to be in your group.
  4. To accept your friend must log in to their Housing Application and confirms your request.
Important reminder

Selection Time Pair requests will expire after 14 days! If you do not accept a request before it expires a new Selection Time Pair request will need to be sent. You cannot accept a request by replying to the request email, you must log in to your Housing Application to accept your request. 

Helpful Tip

If you are having trouble finding your friend, confirm they have made their $200 initial housing payment, have "Include in Roommate Search" checked in their housing application and have filled out the housing application for the same academic year as you.
