The BFA portfolio review process is for current School of Art students only.

Do not submit a portfolio if you are still in high school or are planning to transfer to BGSU. You will have the opportunity to submit after you have completed at least 2 of the 3 Art Foundations courses.

Students wishing to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in the School of Art must pass a Portfolio Review to become full BFA candidates (Note: Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree does not require passing a Portfolio Review).

The School of Art offers BFA degrees in Art Education, Digital Arts, Graphic Design, and Studio.

Entrance into the BFA degree is competitive, but every student has two chances to pass the BFA Portfolio Review. If they are not successful in passing the BFA Portfolio Review their first year, they may attempt to pass the following year. If they do not pass at their second attempt, the student must opt to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Deadline:

The deadline for submission of the BFA portfolio during the 2023-2024 academic year is Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time.

Handbook:

Please review the Portfolio Review Handbook before submitting your portfolio. In the handbook, you will find information about format, procedures, and content of the portfolio.

The portal will open on Thursday, February 1st.
