BG Philharmonia celebrates 90th anniversary

BOWLING GREEN, O.—The final event of the 90th anniversary season of the Bowling Green Philharmonia at Bowling Green State University will feature a joint concert with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the University Choral Society.

The performance will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 20, in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center.

Emily Freeman Brown, director of orchestra activities in the College of Musical Arts, will conduct.

The concert will feature “Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67” by Beethoven; “Te Deum Laudamus, Op. 103” by Antonin Dvorak, with the following soloists—soprano Catherine Randall, a second-year graduate student, and baritone Kelly Anderson, an instructor of voice; “Adagietto from ‘Symphony No. 5’” by Gustav Mahler, and “Suite No. 2 from ‘Daphnis et Chloé’” by Maurice Ravel.

The University Choral Society, under the direction of Mark Munson, an associate professor of music education, will be featured on the Dvorak and Ravel numbers.

Advance tickets are $7 for students and senior citizens and $10 for other adults. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the concert for $10 and $13, respectively.
