Jackson Bliss Featured at First Gathered Voices Reading in Downtown Toledo

On October 25, Dr. Jackson Bliss was the featured reader for the first Gathered Voices literary event in downtown Toledo. Hosted by Gathered Glassblowing studio, Gathered Voices is a brand new reading series organized by studio manager Ian Welch and Rhetoric and Writing PhD student Lena Ziegler.

With the unique backdrop of visual art, sculpture, and blown glass produced and curated by local artists, Bliss shared his powerful essay “Our Words Will Save Us and Set us Free” published earlier this year in Longreads. Following his reading, attendees shared in drinks, snacks, and conversation, before coming to a close with an open mic.

With the aim of bringing literary arts to new audiences and encouraging creative expression at all levels of experience, Gathered Voices will feature a new reader and open mic at every event.
