Marital Instability Over the Life Course

Relationship Quality Snapshot

Marital Instability over the Life Course consists of six waves of data collected between 1980 and 2000 from married individuals who were between the ages of 18 and 55 in 1980. There are a wide variety of measures capturing relationship quality, including marital interaction, happiness, conflicts, problems, troubles, and divorce proneness. Data were also collected from adult offspring at two waves, and offspring data include information on parents’ relationship quality and their own relationship quality in marriage, cohabitation, or dating.
