Latino/a/x Issues Conference

featuring the eSTRELLA Latin American & Latino/a/x Studies Student Research Conference

The eStrella Latin American & Latino/a/x Studies Student Research Conference is an annual conference featuring the original scholarship of BGSU community members. Undergraduate and graduate students are particularly encouraged to present their work. 

Presentations can take the form of a paper or powerpoint presentation, a roundtable discussion, an artistic exhibition, or a performance. The committee encourages proposals such as research studies, creative work, and works in progress.  Visual creative works (e.g., painting, ceramics, photography) may also be displayed during the conference.

We invite proposals for presentations in Spanish and/or English on all topics related to Latin America and Latino/a/x Studies, and we particularly encourage topics related to the theme of Creative Resistance and Artistic Activism.  Other areas of study might include: immigration & citizenship, culture & literature, history, politics, linguistics, ethnicity & race, environment & society, the indigenous peoples, African diaspora, gender & sexuality, LGBTQ+ studies, art, education, economic & human development, music, performance, and geography. We have already received many excellent abstracts, and we're on track to have the strongest LIC yet.
