Selecting Your Prompt

1. Click "View My Prompt" which can be found on the left-side navigation.
   

2. Read the 3 writing prompts.

3. Check the prompt you have chosen for your essay.

Writing Your Essay and Revision Plan

You have two option for writing your placement:

Option 1: Using Your Own Word Processing Software (Strongly Recommended)

If you choose to write your placement essay and revision plan using your own word processing software (for example, Microsoft Word or Google Docs), you will be able to leave the placement site and return to it as often as you like within your 24-hour submission window. As you write, remember to save your work frequently. Use the cut-and-paste function to transfer your placement essay and revision plan from your word processor to the large text box on the "Write and Submit" webpage.

Option 2: Typing Directly into the Text Box (Not Recommended)

If you choose to write your placement essay and revision plan directly into the large text box on the "Write and Submit" webpage, please be aware that the program will not save your work if you leave the webpage unless you click the "Save" button. Therefore, if you choose to leave the placement site and later return to it, you must be sure to click the "Save" button so you can pick up where you left off.

Note: We strongly discourage you from drafting your placement essay and revision plan on your phone.

Essay and Revision Plan Requirements

Essay: Your response to the prompt should not exceed 800 words in length.

Revision Plan: Your revision plan should describe how you would continue to develop and strengthen your essay if time were not a limitation. Your revision plan should not exceed 200 words in length. Please do not submit a revision of your essay or copy/paste your essay into the revision plan box.

Submitting Your Placement

1. Click on the "Write and Submit" link at the left edge of the web page.

2. Copy/Paste or write your essay and revision plan into the appropriate boxes.

3. Proofread your essay and revision plan. 

4. Click the "Submit" button.

5. Confirm that your placement essay and revision plan have been submitted. An automated message of receipt will be sent to your BGSU email account. If you do not receive an email receipt, we did not receive your submission. Please contact us if you do not receive a receipt after submitting your essay.
