Business administration major Michael Grau was one of the first students to take part in an internship to Lisbon in Portugal, which he believes secured another internship at Marathon Petroleum Corporation.

Summer Experience: Greek piano festival opportunity to experience past, present at same time Nov 22, 2019 2:54 PM Jiamo Zhang, a Master of Music candidate in piano performance, along with several other BGSU students, participated in the Corfu Summer Piano Festival this past summer. Not only did Zhang get to play in a world-class event, she and her classmates were immersed in historic and modern Greek life.

Givens Memorial Fellowship gave Bowling Green State University student Tess Marjanovic an opportunity of a lifetime: spending the summer in South Africa growing as an individual, musician and teacher. Summer Experience: Grad student rides 2,900 miles to raise money, awareness Sep 3, 2018 12:00 AM Bowling Green State University graduate student Kristi Walker spent nine weeks of her summer break fundraising, biking and building affordable housing in communities from Key West, Florida, to Calais, Maine. She raised $5,500 through a nine-week, 2,900-mile “Keys 2 Canada” bike ride with the nonprofit organization Bike and Build.

Summer Experience: Project Feed Thy Neighbor Sep 17, 2017 12:15 AM President’s Leadership Academy junior Kyle Jumper-Smith this summer organized his second Project Feed Thy Neighbor in his hometown of Detroit. The day of empowerment providing food, fellowship and positivity fed 422 people. Students from BGSU and other schools pitched in, in the spirit of donors Robert and Ellen Thompson.

Alexandra Patterson at Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary Sep 26, 2016 7:00 AM Alexandra Patterson, a senior at Bowling Green State University majoring in biology with specializations in marine biology and conservation ecology, spent her summer interning at the Sea Life Sanctuary in England and rescuing and rehabilitating common seals and gray seals on the coast of the North Sea.

Baxter Chambers studies comedy at The Second City Sep 26, 2016 7:00 AM Baxter Chambers spent six weeks in intensive training in the Comedy Studies series at The Second City in Chicago. Chambers learned improvisation, sketch writing, voice and movement, and history and theory of comedy from Second City faculty and weekly guest workshops.

Stephanie Maiorano living the aloha dream Sep 26, 2016 7:00 AM Stephanie Maiorano spent her summer working with dolphins at Sea Life Park Hawaii. Maiorano, who is majoring in marine biology at BGSU, interacted with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins that were a part of some of the public programs offered at the park on the island of Oahu.

Amanda Freedman at Owens-Illinois Sep 18, 2016 7:00 AM Amanda Freedman began her internship at Owens-Illinois’ headquarters in Perrysburg, Ohio, at the end of May, which led to a job offer from the global company. Freedman, who will start at O-I after she graduates from BGSU, gained valuable work experience in three key areas: tax, finance and audit.

Video in New York during the summer. He was hired as a production assistant to work daily in one of four video studios owned and operated by Time Magazine.

ICPSR is the world’s largest academic social science survey and research organization. It plays a key role in the infrastructure of social science research.

My Summer Experience: Ashley Meehan's summer research project Aug 29, 2016 7:00 AM Ashley Meehan held focus groups during the summer to gather how students felt about HIV and AIDS — about the disease itself, the hope for eradicating the disease, and how we can make a difference at BGSU. She also spent a majority of the summer digging through 35 years’ worth of literature about the disease.

Casagrande got to work with amateur and pro athletes at the top of their game, including members of the L.A. Galaxy soccer team.

My Summer Experience: Phillip Rich on studying abroad in Europe Aug 29, 2016 7:00 AM Phillip Rich, a junior in the BGSU College of Business, took part in an eight-week study abroad program in Nantes, France. In addition to attending four weeks of classes in Nantes and a one-week trip to Brussels, Belgium, Rich visited 10 countries in Europe.

My Summer Experience: Alex Wehri at Hendrick Motorsports Aug 18, 2016 2:32 PM Alex Wehri '16 moved to North Carolina in May to start working as a part of the Hendrick Motorsports strength and conditioning staff. His job at HMS was to help train the pit crews. For comparison, Hendrick Motorsports is like the Yankees of NASCAR, so Wehri knew he was going to be a great summer experience.

I participated in a Summer Science Fellowship Aug 24, 2015 7:00 AM Over the summer, I was selected to participate in the Summer Science Fellowship with the American Psychological Association (APA). I stayed six weeks on George Mason University’s campus in Fairfax, Va. I was a mere metro ride outside of Washington D.C. and took full advantage of this! Not only was I challenged as a researcher and future graduate student, I was given many opportunities to think outside the realm of the career path of the “expected” psych students, and also afforded the opportunity to explore a culturally rich area.

My official title was Football Information Intern and I essentially helped with the communications aspect at the Hall of Fame.

My Summer Experience: Eric Batts Sep 15, 2014 7:00 AM This past May, I was given the opportunity to go behind the scenes on the Latter Day tour of “The Book of Mormon” as a stage management intern. This was easily one of the greatest experiences of my life. Not only did I get to meet a lot of great people and make quite a few friends in the professional world, this internship basically solidified my ideas for a post-graduate career. Seeing other people doing the things I love and seeing them loving it too made me want to push myself even farther to one day become a great stage manager.

My Summer Experience: Cathie Moore Sep 1, 2014 7:00 AM I spent my summer in Israel on an archaeological dig on Tel Megiddo for seven weeks. My workweek was Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday off. The week was crazy busy. We got on the bus to the site at 4:30 a.m. each morning, and by the 8 a.m. breakfast, it felt like I had already carried what seemed like hundreds of buckets of dirt and dripped just as many buckets of sweat.

My Summer Experience: Latifat Owe Sep 16, 2013 9:08 AM I spent my summer interning with Owens Corning at their world headquarters in Toledo. Owens Corning (OC) is a market leading fiberglass manufacturer. Their product line extends from home insulation to car parts. I had a very interesting experience as a supply chain intern for this company. My summer began on May 20 with about 50 other interns who were all equally as anxious I was to find out the projects and people they would be working with all summer.

Some may wonder what sort of music program entails extensive time in mountains and the ocean, but this truly was a wonderful exploration of music and the environment. The experience overlaps with my artistic interests and research, which is particularly helpful as I enter the dissertation phase of my degree in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at Bowling Green State University.

BGSU senior draws inspiration from exclusive art residency BGSU studio art student Paul Verdell found inspiration, motivation and time to create during an exclusive seven-week art residency in Chautauqua, New York, this summer. He also spent time with like-minded artists, created a series of drawings in oil pastel and learned how to screen print.
