The program will feature two well-known pieces by Tchaikovsky, his Symphony No. 5 and Violin Concerto.

  • Remote locations Oct 24, 2016 8:28 AM BGSU alumna Cassie Utt '13 was chosen to participate in the Remote Year program, which brings 75 people from around the world together allowing them to spend a year traveling to 12 different destinations. Those destinations include Dubrovnik, Croatia; the island Ko Tao in Thailand; and Buenos Aires, Argentina - spending a month in each location.

Germain is a soprano vocalist and the superintendent of the group. She joined the Air Force immediately after graduation in 1995.

In addition, the board also authorized upgrades to the Moore Musical Arts Center, Ice Arena and two campus electrical load centers.

  • Alumnae receive award from Chamber Music America Jul 28, 2016 11:30 AM On July 25, 2015, Chamber Music America (CMA) announced awards to 21 groups, including Quince Contemporary Vocal Ensemble and LJ White, a Chicago-based composer. White will compose a new song cycle that includes male, female, straight, cis, gay, and trans perspectives, to be premiered during the 2017-2018 concert season.

  • Star-spangled student Jul 15, 2016 2:35 PM BGSU student Abby Paskvan will take the national stage next Wednesday evening (July 20) when she performs “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Republican National Convention. Paskvan, a junior majoring in marketing, was invited to perform the national anthem by convention officials.

  • Undergraduate researchers reap awards, kudos May 23, 2016 2:00 PM Six undergraduate students received glass awards on May 18 for their oral and poster presentations at the April 23 Undergraduate Symposium for Research and Scholarship. Also honored was Dr. Andrew Gregory of the School of Earth, Environment and Society, who received the Undergraduate Faculty Mentor of the Year Award.

  • Class of 2016 Success Stories: Putting down roots at BGSU May 23, 2016 7:00 AM Mike Bryce, a double major in music and psychology from Pittsburgh, founded the Roots Music Club in August of 2014. Bryce and other musicians met in 1002 Moore Musical Arts Center on a Tuesday night, and have continued meeting there on Tuesday nights ever since.

  • Fifteen faculty receive emeritus status May 18, 2016 2:45 PM The Board of Trustees granted emeritus status to 15 retired or retiring faculty members on May 6. Emeritus status is conferred in recognition of distinguished service to the University. Individuals must have been at the University for at least 10 years and been recommended by their department for the designation.

  • BGSU celebrates 285th graduation May 7, 2016 4:02 PM Bowling Green State University held its 285th commencement this past weekend, with more than 2,200 candidates in the graduating class. Commencement included the presentation of an honorary degree and addresses from alumni.

  • Faculty climb academic ladder with tenure, promotion May 6, 2016 4:02 PM The BGSU Board of Trustees acknowledged and celebrated the accomplishments of faculty from a number of colleges May 6 with the granting of promotions and for some, tenure. Thirteen were promoted to full professor, 15 received promotion to associate professor with tenure.

  • Burger to teach, perform as Fulbright Specialist in Malaysia May 4, 2016 4:00 PM Dr. Cole Burger, an instructor of piano in the College of Musical Arts, will teach piano and present recitals and master classes at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur as a Fulbright Specialist. The specialist program promotes short-term collaborative projects linking American scholars with counterparts at host institutions.

  • BG Music Ed Alumna Creates First Orchestra on the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia May 2, 2016 9:59 AM Hannah Lawson is currently teaching music at Dhahran British Grammar School in Saudi Arabia. After graduating from BG in 2010, Hannah taught in multiple states in the U.S. In 2014, a job opportunity came about to move to Saudi Arabia with her husband and with no knowledge of the culture or language, she left in hopes of self discovery and has found it.
