BGSU College of Musical Arts alum Megan Link received the Ohio Music Educators Association Outstanding Young Music Educator award at the 2016 Professional Development Conference on January 29, 2016 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor an OMEA member for exemplary leadership, service and commitment to excellence in music education. Megan completed both her Bachelor of Music (2009) and her Masters in Music (2013) at BGSU. After being nominated for the award by a colleague, parents, students, administrators and colleagues wrote letters on her behalf.

In her acceptance speech, Megan thanked the teachers who mentored her, including: high school directors, BGSU faculty, and her current colleagues and administrators sharing, “It is important that you love what you do, and I can’t imagine being happy doing anything else. Being an elementary general music teacher has me singing, playing, and moving every day. I hope that my work in the classroom instills a love of music and provides an education that will last a lifetime. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!”

Megan is currently teaching music at Starr Elementary School in Oregon, Ohio. In addition, she serves as an adjunct instructor in the BGSU Inclusive Early Childhood Education Program, teaching music education strategies to early childhood and intervention specialist majors.
