Bowling Green State University offers an electronic degree audit to assist students, advisors, and the University of the progress toward degree completion of all degree requirements. The degree audit report matches completed, in-progress, and registered courses with the degree requirements of the specified program to determine what requirements have not been met. This tool is designed for advisement. Final confirmation of degree requirements is subject to college and University approval.

Visit the Registration and Records website for information on how to access your Degree Audit. Remember to make an appointment with an advisor to review your Degree Audit and ask any questions.

Finding the Correct Forms

Students completing a relevant Political Science internship and want it to count towards the Signature Work/Experiential Learning requirement will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Register for CO-OP 50 prior to start of internship: 0 credits; no tuition; must register for CO-OP 50 before internship begins; click here for information; register via Handshake by clicking on the Career Center link in MyBGSU. CO-OP 50 provides notation on your transcript to verify your experience.
  2. Complete the POLS Internship Work Plan prior to start of internship: Fill out your portion of the work plan and have your site supervisor fill out their portion. You can find the Work Plan here
  3. Email your POLS faculty mentor/advisor with a request to register for POLS 4910 in the fall: send your faculty mentor a single email with:
    • 1) proof of registration in COOP 50;
    • 2) completed POLS Internship Work Plan; and
    • 3) written request to register in POLS 4910 in fall – including your student ID number.

Upon submission of the above: your faculty mentor will confirm that your internship has sufficient political, governmental, law, nonprofit, or campaign-related content for POLS 4910. If your internship is approved, your faculty mentor will arrange your registration in POLS 4910.

REMINDER: the signature work / experiential learning requirement can be satisfied by either taking POLS 4910 (Solving Political Problems) in the fall or POLS 4900 (Analyzing Political Problems) in the spring. If you choose the internship route, the internship itself can be in the fall, spring or summer so long as the above criteria are met.

Use this form to add or drop a class. Remember to always discuss course changes with your advisor.

It is not advised for students to take more than 18 credit hours in a semester. If you have a special reason for doing so, you can fill out an overload appeal to request approal. Remember to consult with your advisor.

To have a course count under a different specialization or for experiential learning/signature work, please work with your advisor who will submit this form.

Please note, your POLS advisor cannot do course substitutions for courses in other departments. If you want a course to count under another department (e.g., HIST, ECON, SOC, etc.) please contact that department.
