Students Host Picture Book Showcase

Amanda McGuire Rzicznek, Elizabeth Loo Zemanski, and ENG 3420: Literature for Young Children students hosted a picture book showcase. For six weeks leading up to the event, the students were immersed in writing and design processes; they poured themselves into their books and were immensely excited to share them.

This capstone project scaffolds students’ learning experiences with the Mazza Museum in Findlay, where students explored the galleries and experimented with illustration styles and with author/illustrator Lindsay Ward who presented to the BGSU community in October.

As part of an ongoing interdisciplinary collaboration with the Curriculum Resource Center and the College of Education’s Literacy in the Park, this picture book showcase promotes how children’s literature lives beyond the classroom for the public good. All were invited to visit the showcase from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in the Pallister Room of the Jerome Library.

The showcase was also featured in the BG Independent.
