Dr. Jolie Sheffer Receives 2019 David Hoch Memorial Award for Service in Excellence

The Department of English is thrilled to announce that Dr. Jolie Sheffer, Associate Professor, English and American Culture Studies and Director, Institute for the Study of Culture and Society (ICS), is a 2019 recipient of the David Hoch Memorial Award for Service in Excellence. The award is "is designed to recognize and honor the outstanding work in service-learning and/or civic engagement done by a faculty or staff member at an Ohio Campus Compact member institution," according to the website, and Dr. Sheffer's work made her a more than deserving candidate.

Since assuming the role of Director of ICS, Dr. Sheffer has focused on fostering relationships between the university and local communities. Projects have included research presentations at the University of Toledo, partnerships with local K-12 schools for educational programming, a collaboration with the Wood County Hospital, and much more.
