Senate Executive Committee

PURPOSE

The Senate Executive Committee (SEC) is responsible for the business of the Senate, and receives reports and recommendations from Senate standing committees. The SEC sets the agenda for Senate meetings, participates with the President in Charter interpretations and in determinations of Charter violations, reviews proposed Charter amendments, and must approve proposed editorial changes to the Charter. 

MEMBERSHIP

The SEC shall be composed of twelve members:

  1. the Chair, the Vice-Chair, and the Secretary of the Faculty Senate
  2. seven Faculty Senators elected by and from the Faculty Senators for two-year terms, provided that each of the degree-granting undergraduate colleges and the graduate college are represented by at least one elected member and that three terms expire each year
  3. an undergraduate student appointed by the USG
  4. a graduate student appointed by the GSS

MEETINGS

Meetings of the SEC are scheduled on Tuesday afternoons opposite those weeks in which Senate or on-call meetings of the Senate are scheduled.

CHAIR

The Chairperson of the SEC is the Chair of Faculty Senate.
