GSW to Host Dr. Elizabeth Wardle
All are welcome to join General Studies Writing for two presentations by Elizabeth Wardle on Thursday, January. 19.
"Writing about Writing: How to Teach First-Year Writing to Encourage Transfer" will explore the research and experiences that led Wardle and Doug Downs to recommend and develop what has become known as a "writing about writing" approach to first-year composition. The presentation will take place 9:30-11 a.m. in 208 BTSU.
"Naming What We Know: Identifying and Using Threshold Concepts of Writing Studies" will be an interactive workshop that investigates what threshold concepts are. Wardle will describe the methodology informing her recent co-authored book, Naming What We Know (with Linda Alder-Kassner). The workshop will take place 12:30-2 p.m. in 208 BTSU.
Visit the General Studies Writing website for more information about these presentations and to see Elizabeth Wardle's bio.
