BGSU Spotlights Outstanding Faculty at Annual Awards

Eighteen faculty members from across the University were honored at the April 13 Faculty Excellence Awards hosted by the Office of the Provost and Faculty Senate. Awards were presented by President Mary Ellen Mazey, Provost Rodney Rogers; Dr. Michael Ogawa, vice president for research and economic engagement; Faculty Senate Chair Rachelle Kristof Hippler, and Joyce Blinn, wife of the late Dr. Elliott Blinn, for an award named in his honor.

Two faculty members were recognized once again for having received honorary titles earlier this year from the BGSU Board of Trustees.
- Dr. Eric Dubow, psychology, was named Distinguished Research Professor
- Dr. Alberto González, communication, was named Distinguished University Professor
The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research presented the Olscamp Research Award and the Outstanding Early Career Award. Two winners for each award were selected this year.
Olscamp Research Awards went to:
- Dr. Karen Guzzo, sociology
- Dr. Moira van Staaden, biological sciences
Receiving the Outstanding Early Career Award were:
- Jenn Stucker, chair of the graphic design division in the School of Art.
- Dr. Hans Wildschutte, biological sciences
The Academic Advising and Mentoring Award was also presented to two people
- Dr. Ann Light, political science
- Dr. Holly Myers , environment and sustainability
Two faculty members were awarded the Elliott Blinn Award for Faculty- Undergraduate Student Basic Research/Creative Work. Honored were:
- Dr. Kate Magsamen- Conrad, School of Media and Communication, communication department
- Dr. Hans Wildschutte, biological sciences
