Ohio Family Health Survey

DESCRIPTION: The 1998 Ohio Family Health Survey was developed to obtain baseline measures of health insurance coverage, health status, health risk behaviors, access to care, health care utilization, health care costs, satisfaction with care and unmet health needs. Additionally, the survey also collected demographic and socioeconomic characteristics in these reports which included gender, age group, race, ethnicity, educational attainment, marital status, family composition, family income, county type and work status. Interviews were conducted with one adult in each of 16,261 Ohio households. Information was also gathered for 5,788 children from interviews with adult family members. The 2004 Ohio Family Health Survey was a substantial expansion in both coverage and health related measures than the 1998 survey. This survey obtained responses from nearly 40,000 adults and gathered information on more than 15,000 children and included new measures that assessed tobacco use, care-giving and assessments of the quality of health care services. The most recent survey was conducted in 2008 and collected information from approximately 51,000 adults and 13,000 children.
