BGP Learning Outcomes Assessment

BGP Assessment Data Semester Deadlines:

• Spring 2025 Assessment Due Date: May 9, 2025
• Summer 2025 Assessment Due Date: August 15, 2025
• Fall 2025 Assessment Due Date: December 19, 2025

BG Perspective (BGP) is a comprehensive general education program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). Implemented in Fall 2015, it utilizes program learning outcomes (LOs) organized within seven overarching domains that were approved by the BGP Committee in academic year 2013-2014. All courses approved for the BGP program illustrated alignment with the BGP LOs appropriate to the domain. The required assessment activities were created by faculty within the departments in which the courses are taught and were vetted and approved by the BGP Committee and the BGSU Provost.

With the importance of ongoing, routine assessment of students’ success, faculty of all BGP courses are required to submit evidence regarding the achievement of BGP LOs from their courses. At the end of each term, including summer terms, academic units submit their assessment data to the Office of Academic Assessment (OAA), where the results are subsequently compiled by domain. The Canvas learning management system (LMS) provides an efficient method for submitting BGP assessment data, and there are course templates (course shells) for each BGP course. The submission of student learning outcome assessment data guides the continuous improvement of the program and promotes student learning.
