Dr. Esther Clinton

The School of Cultural and Critical Studies mourns the loss of Dr. Esther Clinton, who passed away in July 2022.  Dr. Clinton taught classes in folklore, narrative, cultural theory, and many other topics since arriving as a Visiting Assistant Professor in 2006.  Her students and colleagues have planted trees and dedicated a park bench on campus in her memory, and donated to the Cocoon, a local shelter for abuse survivors.

Robert L. Perry, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Department of Ethnic Studies, is a Bowling Green State University Alumnus and was the founding Developer/Director of the Ethnic Studies Program and first Department Chair (1970-1997).

A prolific playwright, poet, fiction writer and director, John Scott teaches creative writing, theatre and ethnic studies. His plays and other works have been produced in universities, regional theatres, off-Broadway (New York) and on Public Television (PBS). He has held appointments as Professor, Chair of Theatre/Ethnic Cultural Arts and Director of programs and plays at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Benedict (SC), Florida Memorial (Miami), Dillard (New Orleans), and Jackson State (MS). He is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Bowling Green State University.
