Bayot’s father is a full-time professional musician and Bruno Mars is his cousin. They started their trip in Pittsburgh, and will finish in Cairo, Illinois.

  • BGSU alumnus Robin Yocum finalist for Edgar Allen Poe Award May 25, 2017 9:50 AM Robin Yocum '78 was a recent finalist for the 2017 Edgar Allen Poe Awards, presented by the Mystery Writers of America. Yocum, a journalism major at BGSU, was in the running for Best Paperback Original for his novel "A Brilliant Death."

She received a $1,000 check and a plaque bearing her name, to be permanently displayed in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.

  • BGSU first public university in Ohio to post checkbook-level expenditures online May 17, 2017 3:22 PM Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel and Bowling Green State University President Mary Ellen Mazey recently announced the launch of BGSU’s online checkbook, making the University the first public university in the state to post its spending on the site. OhioCheckbook.com is home to all state spending information.

  • Faculty Mentor Awards presented to Larsen, Ludy May 17, 2017 12:57 PM Undergraduate researchers and the faculty who inspired them were honored May 2 following the April 22 Undergraduate Research Symposium. Hosted by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship, this year’s event had 30 percent more participants than last year’s and included 137 presentations (110 posters and 27 oral presentations).

  • BGSU rugby sevens team to play in national championships May 17, 2017 9:59 AM BGSU Rugby will play in the National Collegiate Sevens Championships in Glendale, Colorado, this weekend (May 19-21). The Falcons defeated the University of Louisville to earn its third straight trip in the sevens version of the game to the national finals.

  • BGSU receives NEH grant to expand migration studies May 12, 2017 1:57 PM BGSU has been awarded major funding under a new grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. “Understanding Migration: Local and Global Perspectives,” co-authored by Dr. Christina Guenther, world languages and cultures, and Dr. Vibha Bhalla, ethnic studies, has been funded for the full amount of $100,000.

  • I-75 Interchange Public Meeting May 16 May 11, 2017 1:44 PM The Ohio Department of Transportation invites community members to a public meeting to review and comment on the proposed project to upgrade the interchange at Wooster Street and I-75. The project was designed to improve ramp intersection safety, provide safe bike and pedestrian mobility across the interstate, and more.

  • Ribeau, retiring faculty granted emeritus status May 8, 2017 9:48 AM BGSU trustees granted the title of President Emeritus to former President Sidney Ribeau during their May 5 meeting. Ribeau served from 1995-2008. The trustees also granted emeritus status to retired or retiring faculty members and administrators. Emeritus status is conferred in recognition of distinguished service to the University.

  • Smith memoir recalls life of a ‘working class writer’ May 3, 2017 1:53 PM Dr. Larry Smith, professor emeritus of humanities and English at BGSU Firelands, has recently released a memoir, “The Thick of Thin: Memoirs of a Working-Class Writer,” published by Bottom Dog Press. Smith shares his memories of youth in Ohio’s Appalachian country and his and his wife’s journey as they moved north.

  • Achievement honored at 288th BGSU commencement May 3, 2017 1:51 PM Degree candidates at the University’s commencement ceremonies Friday (May 5) and Saturday (May 6) heard from alumni who have gone on to distinguished careers in academia, the Coast Guard and the financial services industry. The Bowling Green campus held three ceremonies, all in the Stroh Center.
