  • New professorship in computer science awarded to Chao Jul 26, 2017 3:15 PM A new professorship in software engineering made possible by prominent BGSU alumni has been awarded to an accomplished member of the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Joseph Chao, associate professor and chair of the department, has been named the inaugural Shantanu and Reni Narayen Endowed Professor.

  • BGSU to hold commencement Aug. 5 Jul 26, 2017 3:10 PM A diverse group of 958 people will share a common experience on Saturday morning, Aug. 5. They will receive diplomas from Bowling Green State University. The 9 a.m. ceremony in the Stroh Center will see graduates as young as 18, as old as 71, and 114 who come from 29 other countries. More than half of the total are women.

  • BGSU’s Tonya Rider lends talents to ‘Cold Justice’ Jul 24, 2017 10:54 AM Students in BGSU’s criminal justice program are the beneficiaries of Tonya Rider’s vast experience working as a homicide investigator. Now, viewers of the TV show “Cold Justice” also will be able to learn from her expertise. Rider, an instructor who teaches forensic investigations, retired from the Toledo Police Department in 2016.

  • Biking the U.S. for MS Jul 24, 2017 12:00 AM Bowling Green State University alumnae Kaylyn Messenger and Amanda Piorkowski are almost done with a 4,295-mile journey across the country to raise awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis. This is the first leg of a trip that will take them from Maine to Seattle to San Diego to Florida.

  • Wallach returns to Indonesia for Indonesian-language edition of his seminal book Jul 19, 2017 1:53 PM Dr. Jeremy Wallach, a professor of popular culture, has just returned from Indonesia, where he gave presentations related to the publication of an Indonesian-language edition of his 2008 book, “Modern Noise, Fluid Genres: Popular Music in Indonesia 1997-2001.” Wallach spoke at the American Embassy in Jakarta and at a seminar.

  • BGSU Planetarium celebrates Aug. 21 solar eclipse Jul 18, 2017 10:09 AM On Aug. 21, a solar eclipse will cross the United States from the West Coast to the East Coast — an event that hasn’t happened in 99 years. The BGSU Planetarium has several activities planned Aug. 21 to celebrate and acknowledge this rare occurrence.
