Permits

Permits are available on an annual, academic and semester basis for faculty and staff. Annual permits are the most cost-effective permit option. Faculty and staff can see which permits are available for purchase and register for permits online through their MyBGSU portal - under "Manage Parking Account". All permit requests are processed in "real time" and are active immediately. For further instruction follow the Online Parking Permit Registration. Please note: Credit Cards are accepted online and a convenience fee will be assessed. Payments may be made in the office using cash or checks.

Your state-issued license plate on your vehicle serves as your permit. Per policy 4.1, vehicle must be parked so that the state-issued license plate is unobstructed and clearly visible to the drive aisles in parking lots. See Parking Rules and Regulations for more details.

To change/add vehicles, log into MyBGSU/Manage Parking Account/View Permits/Select Current Permit/Add New Vehicle to Permit. This online application is available for faculty/staff and students.

  • Annual Permit: $145
  • Academic Permit (Aug. - May): $130
  • Semester Permit (Fall, Spring or Summer): $83

The cost of a parking permit will vary based upon the type of permit selected (annual, academic, fall, spring, or summer) along with the month the permit is purchased (faculty/staff permits will be prorated beginning this year).

The cost of a parking permit is the same for all BGSU employees regardless of full-time or part-time employment status.

The Payroll Office will pull new parking registrations each payroll, but keep in mind that processing a payroll for a specific pay date may occur up to five days before the actual pay date.  The total amount will not come out of one paycheck.  The system will take the cost of the permit and divide it by the number of remaining pays based on your employee classification and employment term.

Paying by credit card at the time of registration will apply the full cost of the permit to your credit card in a one-time charge.  If your employment status provides you with the opportunity to select payroll deduction, your paycheck deductions will begin with the next run by the Payroll department.

In the event you have purchased the parking permit by credit card, the permit is yours to keep and use until expiration. If you purchased by payroll deduction, the parking permit will be deactivated with the processing of your final payroll. Refunds are only available within the first 2 weeks of purchasing the parking permit.

We are always working to balance parking convenience with the preservation of campus green spaces and aesthetics.  While the space you desire to park in may not be available, an adequate number of spaces are available to accommodate the number of permits issued.

Yes, however all parking permit prices will be pro-rated to reflect a different start date.

New employees will receive a Welcome email from Human Resources detailing your first steps, which includes stopping at the Parking Services Office to get a free new staff temporary parking permit. When you come to the office be sure to bring the printed Welcome email, a state issued ID, your BGSU ID number, and your vehicle information (plate #, make, model, color). The temporary permit will be valid for your first work week. After that, if you plan on parking on campus, you will be required to purchase a permit.

Yes, Firelands permits will continue to be honored on the main campus.
