Prepare Your Class Schedule

You will be able to start reviewing class options about a month prior to the registration system opening. This is the time to start looking at your options and building your schedule. We recommend doing this prior to meeting with your Academic Advisor and Planner and at the latest, prior to your registration day. Going through this process will help you think of questions when meeting with your advisor and can help speed up your registration process when the system opens for you.

Please note: Preparing a shopping cart prior to registration opening does not guarantee there will be an opening in the class when you are able to register. 

BGSU Schedule Designer

Create your ideal schedule with the BGSU Schedule Creator. You are in control of the courses you register for by setting preferences for days, times and instructors. Set busy times for things like work, athletics or other commitments. Auto-generate multiple schedule options and use the lock tool to secure your ideal courses. 

Conveniently share your schedule by email with friends, parents or work supervisors. 

Schedule Designer

1. MyBGSU > Student Center > Classes & Registration > Click Schedule Designer
2. Schedules tab > Select the term from the drop-down menu
3. Search for preferred classes > Click +Class button > Click the Finished Adding Classes button when complete
4. Choose Create Your Own or Auto-Generate to build your schedule 
  • Auto-generate uses your set preferences and the Schedule Designer builds a prioritized schedule for you. 
5. Block off unavailable time periods by clicking Add Busy Time > Set the name and time patterns, click Save
6. Start building your schedule
7. Select each course from the drop-down menu. Tip: Use the Legend link to view status definitions.
8. Use the + button to add each available section to the schedule. Tip: Use the blue info button to verify the campus before adding a course to your schedule.
9. When all selections have been added to the schedule click Finished Editing Sections
10. Set your perfect schedule as the Primary Schedule > click Add to Cart. This will redirect to the Student Center Shopping Cart to complete the enrollment process.

Please note: Placing these classes in your shopping cart does not guarantee your enrollment. There is a chance that the class status may change before your enrollment date. Please review the class registration <link to class registration> step on the registration checklist for more information about this process.

6. Click Auto-Generate to begin setting preferences for the term.
7.  Click the Configure Preferences button > Click Next through each preference category > Save & Finish after all preferences have been set.
8.  From the drop-down menu, choose the maximum number of schedules you would like auto-generated > Click Generate Schedules.
9. Schedules will be generated and prioritized based on your preference settings. Click View Details to open each schedule.
10. Use the Return and Save buttons to review and save as many schedules as you want.
11. Set your perfect schedule as the Primary Schedule > click Add to Cart. This will redirect to the Student Center Shopping Cart to complete the enrollment process.
