Violations and Fines
Parking enforcement efforts at BGSU result in a variety of violations, defined in the Parking Rules and Regulations. Permit holders are responsible for all violations issued to their registered vehicle and to any vehicle in which the permit is displayed. Violations associated with unregistered vehicles brought onto campus by faculty, staff and students for their use are the responsibility of that individual. Visitor violations are the responsibility of the registered vehicle owner.
Frequently Asked Questions
License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology uses cameras to quickly read license plates. Since your license plate is your permit to park on campus, the LPR camera is able to process license plates quickly to confirm whether a car has complied with parking rules and regulations. This allows us to identify whether a car has a valid permit or made a payment. Our enforcement officers scan thousands of cars a day using LPR. Using LPR eliminates the slow process of manually ticket issue process. This process allows us to efficiently enforce parking rules and regulations by decreasing time required to issue citations. LPR technology has been used on campus since 2016.
Parking Services has switched to E-ticketing as of January 2025. This process will send an email or mail ticket notification to the associated account once a ticket is issued. All the ticket details will be in the email. Tickets can still be accessed online at bgsu.aimsparking.com. Paper tickets will no longer be left on vehicles. Parking Services has been providing email notifications of tickets since 2023.
E-tickets allows for a streamlined process enabling us to provide a better service through efficient enforcement. This method reduces paperwork and allows for easier to manage and pay fines. By decreasing our reliance on paper, we save money, which can be used to improve our services. This switch will also help us to reduce paper waste, contributing to a more environmentally friendly operation by minimizing trash.
