Change of Address
Update your address in the HR system
- Log in to my.bgsu.edu with your Single Sign On username and password.
- Select Update Personal Information in the left menu.
- Select the pencil icon to edit your home address. Select OK when you’re finished.
Your mailing address has now been successfully updated for all University matters, including benefit plans (health insurance, retirement plans, etc.) and the mailing of your W-2 form. If you need additional help, contact Human Resources
Update your payroll taxes
- If you have an active telecommute agreement or flexible work arrangement, you must submit a new telecommute or flexible work request that includes your updated address.
- Payroll will withhold taxes based on your physical work location.
- Note that BGSU does not withhold taxes for states other than Ohio or cities outside of Ohio. Employees are responsible for managing those taxes.
- If you do not have an active telecommute agreement or flexible work arrangement, update your state and/or municipal taxes only if necessary.
- You don’t have to take any action if:
- You’ve moved within the same city
- You’ve never had a courtesy withholding and don’t need one now
- If you’ve moved into an Ohio city that you want a courtesy withholding for, fill out the Resident Municipality Tax Withholding Request form.
- If you’ve moved out of an Ohio city you previously had a tax withholding for, fill out the Resident Municipality Tax Withholding Request form to update your current local tax withholding.
- If you want to stop your current tax, write the city and “stop” on Resident Municipality Tax Withholding Request form.
- If you’ve moved within Ohio and are in a new school district, fill out the Employee’s Withholding Exemption Certificate form.
- If you’ve moved into Ohio from another state, fill out the Employee’s Withholding Exemption Certificate form.
- If you’ve moved out of Ohio, submit the Employee’s Withholding Exemption Certificate.
- You don’t have to take any action if:
- Taking these actions will update the payroll taxes that are withheld from your paycheck going forward. If you need additional help, contact the Payroll Office.
